Tacony Creek Park
Celebrate Earth Day with a guided birding walk along the scenic Tacony Creek Park Trail in North and Northeast Philadelphia. The event takes place on April 25th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, beginning at the trail entrance at I Street and Ramona Avenue (19124). We appreciate being welcomed by our friends over at TTF Watershed.
This relaxed, beginner-friendly walk will start with time spent near the entrance to observe and listen for a variety of birds before heading onto the paved trail. The group will move at an easy pace, turning back midway along the route. In May, participants may spot iconic species such as Baltimore Orioles, warblers, woodpeckers, and even bald eagles and other raptors.
The trail is wide, mostly paved, and shaded, though some areas may be muddy depending on weather conditions. There are no restrooms or benches on-site, but nearby conveniences are a short drive away. Free street parking is available.
Binoculars will be provided, and birders of all experience levels—including families and beginners—are welcome. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes, and to bring water, snacks, bug spray, and sunscreen. Rideshares will be reimbursed (email info @incolorbirding.org with receipts)
Come enjoy a morning of birdwatching, connect with nature, and discover the wildlife thriving right in Philadelphia’s backyard.
